International Day of Charity

A simple act of charity goes a long way. There is joy in receiving, and there is an even greater sense of peace in giving, especially to the unfortunate. On September 5, Teleperformance joins the world in observing International Day of Charity, declared by the United Nations General Assembly back in 2012.

With support from the Parliament of Hungary, celebrating the International Day of Charity started from a civil society initiative based in the country. The date—September 5—was chosen to commemorate the passing away of Nobel Peace Prize recipient Mother Teresa of Calcutta, who received the honor for “work undertaken in the struggle to overcome poverty and distress, which also constituted a threat to peace.”

At Teleperformance, we believe in the power of coming together to create a strong, lasting impact on our communities. In the past years, our social responsibility initiatives through Citizen of the World (COTW) and Citizen of the Planet have been successful through the help of our people from all over the world, united under one goal: to sustain local communities, and to promote a sustainable use of natural resources. COTW, established in 2006, continues to help the less privileged meet basic survival needs, allowing them to hope for a better future.

Come September 5, we encourage our people and our partners to be one with Teleperformance as we mark this day to give back to our communities. Be it through volunteering, donating, or raising awareness—all it takes is a tiny step to pave way for a journey of positive changes that will impact the lives of many and inspire the world. Contact your local COTW ambassador today to learn more about the social responsibility initiatives and events happening in your country!
