What is success without integrity? Like a structure lacking proper foundation, it’s clear how any venture that has read too much Machiavelli and has practiced the notion “the end justifies the means” to a T is bound to crumble—from a higher perspective, at the end of the day it’s always morals, professionalism, passion, and respect that still prevail.
Companies and corporations all over the world continuously work on their strategies, goals, and process with the well-being and safety of their employees and clients in mind. The United Nations’ Global Compact acknowledges this, and has become a global call that aims to bring together a movement of companies and stakeholders that value human rights, ethics, labor laws, and anti-corruption policies. Currently, over 9,500 companies based in 160 countries are members of the Global Compact, all committed to take actions in order to advance societal goals and sustainability.
The UN Global Compact’s 10 Principles are fundamentals that guide companies and corporations towards best workplace practices. Focused on four areas, each principle is designed to allow businesses to do the greater good and adhere to ethical strategies and solutions. The principles are also centered on promoting equality in the workplace, environmental responsibility, social responsibility, and fair business practices.
